The primary pumps are sold separately so you can add this back up pump system to your existing sump pump system. The Basement Series 12 volt DC pumps are designed for emergency backup use in clear water sump pumps when the primary AC powered pump or pumps fail to turn on. Primary pumps can fail due to power outages during storms or brownouts or because of wiring and electrical problems mechanical malfunction or obstructions in the pit. The Basement Sentry will turn on if the primary pump fails to turn on or is unable to keep up with excessive water due to rain or other conditions that can cause your basement water removal system to overload.
